STATEMENT AND DIRECTIONS

[1] As a result of submissions made jointly by the major parties in Sydney on 10 September 2004, a number of changes have been made to the hearing dates previously notified. The Commission will sit in Melbourne on 29 September 2004 and in Sydney on 30 September and 1 October 2004 to hear the remainder of the oral evidence. The hearings scheduled for the week of 5 October 2004 have been vacated.

[2] The Commission will sit from 13 to 17 December 2004 in Melbourne to hear final oral submissions.

[3] We direct that:

(a) by close of business on Friday 19 November 2004 all parties and interveners file and serve on all other parties and interveners their final submissions, and

(b) subject to the leave of the Commission, no party or intervener may make a final oral submission without having filed a final submission in accordance with (a).
